Here are the meat and potatoes of this weeks subject. There have been many cases of this occuring, the most popular case is a movie that scared millions when it was released " The Exorcist." The Exorcist was based on true events although most of it was exaggerated. For starters the girl in the movie was actually a boy. (more on this in my next post)
Demonic possession is something that is highly debated. I believe that there are many different forms of possession.
All the way from peer pressure to something supernatural actually taking over your body.In the past years scientists have ruled out a lot of what was once believed to be possession : schizophrenia, depression, and Tourette's just to name a few. I for one think, why couldn't those still be signs of possession? just because scientists slapped a label on them doesn't mean anything. But I am the kind of person that believes was he See's and until then ill always wonder and question it while still keeping an open mind.
Types of common Demons.
Incubus - A demon that takes on a male form. This demon preys on sleeping women. Much like its female counterpart, the Succubus.
Djinn - Can also be called Jinn or Genie. It is a creature that lives in a parallel universe. This demon comes from an Arabic background, and is believed to often harass humans or possess them for the demons own personal gain. Another thing I found interesting is they are believed to be judged just like us on the day of judgment.
Ifrit - A supernatural creature that are a type of Djinn (infernal Djinn). They are an enormous winged creature of fire said to be male or female.
Succubus - These demons are the women form of an Incubus. Said to be highly attractive, they lure men in there dreams as they need to draw energy from them to sustain themselves.

Demons
The word demon originally never carried any negative connotations. When Christianity spread is when the word turned negative. In ancient Greek the word Daimön (which is what the word demon comes from) simply meant spirit or divine power.
In the Septuagint translation of the Hebrew bible was when the word first got it's evil meaning.
When Christian demonology came about a demon was considered an unclean spirit who had the ability of possession.This should be an intresting week as we dive yet agian into the unknown.
